Why one number would be misleading

The official description says planets differ in gravity, atmosphere, and temperature, while ship construction allows different engines, fuels, and power systems. Those variables make a single braking point unsafe across ships and destinations.

Community discussion also asks whether the Braking Point System is locked behind Moon progression. The checked official sources do not provide that unlock rule, so this page does not state one.

A safe test method

On a route with recovery margin, record mass, approach velocity, thrust configuration, and the distance at which you begin reversing. Repeat with the same ship before turning that observation into guidance.
